about the program
STAR is a safety incentive program that serves to improve safety awareness by rewarding safe working habits and the participation in continuing safety education programs.
Good safety performance needs to be rewarded. Positive reinforcement is powerful in effecting change in an organization’s culture of safety. Recognition and reward are necessities to improve the safety record and quality within industries represented by the Labor Management Cooperation Initiative (LMCI).
The STAR Program has measurable and action oriented goals for Members.
By requiring members to participate in continuing safety education programs and training, the STAR Program can focus more on behavior to improve safety.
